[It is the sunlight spilling down over the window sill, warming up her uncovered legs, that makes Youko crack an eye open. Finding the wall her bed is pushed up against closer to her than usual is odd, but not out of the realm of the ordinary. The same with her undrawn blinds letting the early afternoon warmth fill up her apartment. All honest, late night mistakes she could make and consequences she could take.
The shirt riding up her stomach that isn't hers and the extra set of legs crowding against her however take the context out of the ordinary, and force her to wake up.
Trying to turn over is a temporary error, but one that refreshes her memory well enough with a pang on why he is in her bed, though she does stare at him a little through her bedraggled curls. Maybe some not-so-small part of her assumed he would have left after she fell asleep. Maybe some not-so-small part of her is glad to see he didn't.
Carefully, slowly, she lowers herself down onto her stomach, settling her chin on the pillow he hasn't stolen. She doesn't know the exact etiquette here, but better she wake him up than him waking up to her watching him for movement, surely? But nothing that startles. Something gentle. A hand brushing his bangs to the side and a quiet —]
[ The point of contact is gentle and yet it's enough to have Nazuna suddenly jolting awake. Gasping for air, he sits upright with rounded eyes while giving a rather superficial glance at his surroundings. He has been mercifully led out of whatever dream he was having and is now in the real world. The environment is a little unfamiliar but he's undoubtedly where he had been last night. Thank goodness. His shoulders sink as Nazuna begins to relax. It's fine, everything is fine. Not that he probably appears the most sane with little context and this occurs to him as a few seconds crawl by.
Lowering his head, he catches sight of that bright red. Right. He knows where he is. He knows why he's here. Right. He unintentionally overstayed his welcome, didn't he? ]
Sh- Shorry... Didn' mean ta be loud... Shorry...
[ Enunciation isn't his strong suit first thing upon waking, words more or less coming out as a croak. Now his eyes are half closed with him absently rubbing at face with the side of his hand. Remaining somewhat asleep has prevented him from panicking. Although there is no true reason to get worked up, is there? Never mind he is not decent and perfectly oblivious to the time. The next inhale takes the form of a yawn before he ungainly hunches over.
One thing at a time as his brain begins loading up... ]
[Having him jolt awake like that has her yanking her hand back like she had burnt it, watching wide-eyed and frozen in place as Nazuna comes violently out of his dreams. It isn't until he seems to notice her — and doesn't recoil or bolt — that she manages to relax and breathe.
The concern and surprise written all over her face ease only a little when she hears his sleepworn voice, and the slight slur as his words roll off the tongue.]
You weren't that loud. Sorry if I startled you.
[She isn't in much position to move around yet — for a few reasons, her panties being lost to the floor up there among them — or she would offer to get Nazuna a glass of water. Instead, she just tugs the blankets and sheet closer, fidgeting and fussing, until she has the covers snugly tucked around her.
It is a hard to make eye contact for long, but she manages it in short, quick glances.]
[ Another yawn. With his vision focusing, grounding him further in reality, it's as though the memory of his dream has already faded away. Nazuna is in a good place. A secure place. Things are okay in this place. It's a place where he isn't so — ]
... I overshlept, didn' I? I hope I washn't makin' ya wait.
[ His hand falls from his face after he shifts slightly in the host's direction. It is stupid to look directly at the sun; even some of its rays can be too much for the naked eye. But he peers at one of those furthest extending rays with her amazing hues. A soft huff slips out as the ends of his mouth quirk upward in a tiny smile. ]
Thanks fer keepin' me warm through the night.
[ It is impossible to forget why he is here. That's why Youko is trying to burrow away, right? The least he can do is extend any means of comfort to her. And he adjusts again to yank out any bit of the sheet that got tucked underneath him through the night so Youko can make use of it. ]
No, I just woke up. I didn't... I didn't want you to wake up with me hovering and startle you.
[Which clearly, by the disappointed slump to her shoulders as she says it, was a roaring success.]
Sorry if I was clingy.
[All apologies today, it seems. She takes what Nazuna offers in the way of sheet, adding it to her blanket mummy wrapping, and managing to draw her knees up to her chest. She has to shimmy out of his shirt at some point, but if her present situation feels precarious, that would worse. She had the plausible deniability of darkness last night; no such luck here.
Watching him, seeing his small smile her direction, and the way her pillows mussed his hair, she wants to reach out. Brush it down, cup his cheek. That is allowed, isn't it? Why does the impulse feel wrong? Her fingers pick awkwardly at the sheet covering her thigh.]
Do you— do you want something to eat? [She ventures a smile.] I'm not sure what I could cook with what's in the fridge, but I basically have every good delivery place in the area locked down.
[ There's no doubt that he easily could have gotten this work done at his home and freed up someone else's time. Most people probably wouldn't want to spend their Saturday night in mostly silence as they wait for another person to finish up schoolwork. Whose idea of fun is that? Strangely enough, it seems to be one of the poor soul who is hosting this shindig.
And, well, Nazuna hasn't had it in him to complain. Despite everything, there is an aspect that is kind of cozy sitting so closely to someone such as his gracious companion. An unspoken incentive may have encouraged him to get through things a tiny bit faster although he was aware of the moment where they almost knocked elbows. It was him who took it upon himself to move his chair so they could sit on the same side of the table so it isn't like he didn't anticipate that possibly happening. He wanted that sort of closeness. ]
See~? I'm pretty decent with math~
[ They've gotten more chatty with him finishing his work, allowing Youko to look it over. Lightly tapping at his jaw with his pencil, idly hooking an ankle over hers, he's relaxed quite a bit from when he first knocked at her door. But he never had anything to be nervous about, did he? Not after that conversation from the day before? ]
I'm not going to say I'm really great at it but... I think this counts for something?
[ He lifts his head and flashes a smile, propping an elbow up on the edge of the table. ]
Youko took the time to look after me. So it's only fair to relieve her of her duty now, right~?
[If Nazuna had done his homework at home, she would still have been sitting in her apartment, reading her book, only she would have made the micro-expressions of shock and horror and amusement as she turned pages for no audience at all. Besides, him coming over gave her a reason to get out of the house for a little bit, to go on a walk and get sunshine, and to buy snacks and drinks at the convenience store before waiting around, excited for him to show up.
He wouldn't have gotten to see her carefully pick out glasses for their drinks on tiptoe. Or watched her dig out a dish for the snack medley she had bought to sit on the table. He certainly wouldn't have gotten to see Youko focused on walking through the steps he had taken on his math work, eyes half-lidded and serious about the task at hand, with the tip of a pencil tapping her lower lip and her hair slipping into her face. Her responding to the conversation lightly, mumbling at points, smiling her approval before turning in her seat and bumping her elbow against his again.]
I agree, I'm not seeing anything that needs reworking. You should be passing with flying colors.
[Without the book in her hands or his work under her nose, she doesn't quite know what to do with their proximity, especially with the conversation that brought them here, but she manages not to shrink away. She tilts her head at him, crossing her arms on the table and propping her chin up on her shoulder.
'Relieve her of her duty'? She can't keep out the concern that tinges her voice.]
